This prestigious awards ceremony, organized by renowned music powerhouse TRACE, features an impressive array of over fifteen distinct categories. Its primary objective is to recognize and honor African musicians who have left an indelible mark on the music industry.

In accordance with a statement released by TRACE, the inaugural Trace Awards in Africa is poised to be an electrifying live affair, brought to you by the multi-channel global TV company. TRACE has been an influential force in advancing and enriching the music scene across Africa, hosting events like TRACE Live—a live concert series held in Nigeria and several other African nations.

Mark your calendars for the TRACE Awards, scheduled for October 21, 2023, at the BK Arena in the captivating and tourism-friendly city of Kigali, Rwanda.

In the Best Female Award category, emerging Nigerian songstress Ayra Starr will compete against talents like Josy from Ivory Coast, Nadia Mukani from Kenya, Sorala Ramos from Cape Verde, and a roster of other noteworthy nominees.

The fiercely contested Song of the Year category showcases exceptional tracks including “Last Last” by Burna Boy, “BKBN,” “Sorala Ramos,” “People” by the esteemed BET Award winner Labianca from Cameroon, “Sugarcane” by Cumdhi, “Rush” by Ayra Starr, “Calm Down” by Rema, “Peru” by Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran, “Seke” by K.O from South Africa, and “Cough” by Kizz Daniel.

In the Newcomer of the Year category, standout artists such as Azani from Uganda, Labianca from Cameroon, Nissi from Nigeria, Odumodublvck from Nigeria, Pabi Copper from South Africa, and Roselin Layo from Ivory Coast constitute the stellar list of nominees.

The Album of the Year contenders encompass “Love Damini” by Burna Boy, “Timeless” by Davido, “Work of Art” by Asake, “More Love, Less Ego” by Wizkid, “Maverick” by Kizz Daniel, and “DNK” by Aya Nakamra.

The Trace Awards’ nominations pay homage to the achievements and excellence of over 150 performers, producers, DJs, writers, composers, directors, established artists, rising stars, and their management and labels.

A captivating competition unfolds across 22 award categories, featuring platinum-selling artists hailing from over thirty countries in Africa, South America, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, and Europe. These countries encompass Algeria, Angola, Brazil, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Comoros, DRC, France, French Guiana, Gabon, Ghana, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Kenya, Madagascar, Martinique, Mayotte, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Reunion, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tunisia, the UK, and Uganda.
