AAHPM International Physicians Scholarship Awards for Developing Countries, 2022

The AAHMP International Physician Scholarship Awards was created to provide easy access to quality education for physicians who are from low and middle income countries (as stipulated by World Bank) to attend and take part in the Annual Assembly.

This scholarship program provides financial support (up to $5,000) to scholarship beneficiaries to cover ordinary costs associated with attending the Annual Assembly registration and travel-related expenses, including air fare, taxi fare, meals, and lodging. At the Annual Assembly, scholarship beneficiaries will have access to the latest clinical information and research updates in hospice and palliative care from leading experts in the field.

Eligibility Criteria for the AAHPM International Physicians Scholarship Awards for Developing Countries, 2022

Scholarships are accessible to physicians who work in hospice and palliative medicine and who care for seriously ill patients. Eligible physicians must permanently reside in low and middle income countries as stipulated by World Bank. It is our belief that the scholarship beneficiaries will share the knowledge attained from the Annual Assembly to improve the palliative care offerings in their home country.

Consideration will be given to applicants who fulfill these criteria:

  • You have not previously attended the Annual Assembly
  • A junior in their career with 2-10 years of experience primarily in palliative care, including a resident or fellow, focused on studying palliative care, and
  • Those whose organizations are considered least able to afford this opportunity

Application Procedure for the Scholarship Programme

There will not be a call for applications for the 2021 International Physician Scholarship. Due to the COVID-19 virus and the cancellation of the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care, we will be moving the 2020 scholarship recipients to attend the 2022 conference.

Important Notice

Successful Awardees will be required to submit a written report describing how their attendance at the Annual Assembly benefited their organization.

In addition, scholarship recipients will be required to secure their own US Visa by December 2022.
