For nearly a century, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has gifted International Fellowships for $20,000 apiece to female graduate students from over 140 nations who are pursuing a master’s, professional, or Ph.D. degree in the United States.
Eligible women must have attained at least a bachelor’s, not hold U.S. citizenship, plan for full-time study or research, display English language proficiency, have extraordinary academic achievement, and intend to return to her home country upon graduation.
Funding: $18,000–$30,000
Opens: August 1
Deadline: November 15
Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree by the application deadline and must have applied to their proposed institutions of study by the time of the application. Recipients are selected for academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to women and girls.
Recipients return to their home countries to become leaders in business, government, academia, community activism, the arts or scientific fields.
