In closed WhatsApp groups across Nigeria, a link with the tag Federal Govt. 25,000 naira conditional cash transfer is circulating.
This message has recently been disseminated across various social media channels and communities across the country.
“The President of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved 25,000 Naira conditional cash transfer to all Nigerian Households. “Check now if you are eligible to receive 25,000 Naira Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer”, the post reads.
Interested candidates are invited to answer a few questions by providing personal details and amount needed.
The post is being circulated after the Nigerian government announced on 1st October 2023 that all federal employees and pensioners will receive a lump sum of N25.000 each as a palliative to ease the suffering that Nigerians are enduring since the elimination of fuel subsidies in June of 2023.

THE FINDINGS
Findings by this writer revealed that the claim is FALSE.
However, a closer inspection of the page after clicking on the web link shows that the website was designed for phishing to collect information about applicants and possibly for click-bait.
After filling in your details on the form and clicking on Continue, the website prompts you to share your post with 5 WhatsApp groups or 15 WhatsApp users to reach the payment portal. The website also states that you will get an email within 24 hours.
THE VERDICT
The claim that the FG is giving each Nigerian N25,000 under its Conditional Cash Transfer programme currently is FALSE; findings show that the programme is yet to take off, as the web link in the claim is that of a phishing scam.
